Ioana is a graduate student interested in climate change mitigation
and sustainability. Her thesis work has focused on the area of carbon
dioxide utilization. Most recently, she has developed a new family of
diphosphine ligands and demonstrated their utility in supporting nickel
catalysts for CO2/ethylene coupling to acrylate. Prior to joining the
Cummins lab, Ioana got her BA and MS in Chemistry at the University
of Pennsylvania, working in the lab of prof. Gary Molander on synthesis
and reactivity of organoboron compounds. Outside of lab, Ioana is
interested in activism and organizing around political, environmental
and women's issues, watching all the episodes of Shark Tank, and latin
and ballroom dancing.
