Matthew Jordan Nava is a graduate student in the Cummins group. Matt is originally from Southern California and joined the Cummins group after receiving a BS/MS from the University of California, Riverside working under Prof. Chris Reed developing fluorinated carborane superacids. In the Cummins group, Matt has worked on a variety of topics including anion-receptor and transition metal chemistry inside of hexacarboxamide cryptands, understanding degradation pathways in lithium-air batteries and spectroscopic characterization of reactive intermediates using mass spectrometery, laser-induced fluorescence and microwave spectroscopy. Outside the lab, Matt likes to hike, explore the New England area and contemplate life on the green line.
